Location: We are offering a hybrid working pattern to combine home and studio, your studio days will be in either Leeds or Manchester, depending which location is closest to home

Working Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, Permanent Contract

Role purpose

You are a Colour Technician, with a passion for colour and its science who plays a key role within our team. You’re part of our enhanced design, artwork and print technical process offering through the use of colour management systems and methodologies, which ensures our services stand out in the packaging world.
With these ideals you will be responsible for creating bespoke printer press profiles, brand colour standardisation and post print analysis reports of the highest standard. Working closely with the print technical leads within your team is a must to ensure high standards are met and excellent quality is achieved. You will learn your expertise as a colour technician by your peers and start to streamline the creation, management and optimisation of colour management for packaging brand owners. Your role will ensure consistency of colour across multiple print processes, substrates and pack formats ensuring global colour consistency at all times. Supporting and working with the department leads and managers, you will help to deliver key colour initiatives. You’ll also help identify and drive innovations in technology for continual improvement throughout the business.

1. Quality

  • Responsible for quality assurance in all aspects of colour proofing, profiling and post print analysis
  • Highlight and help resolve any issues ensuring they do not become problems
  • Be a strong brand guardian, ensuring consistency and quality is maintained

2. Process and Procedures

  • Create and manage workflows for the automation of proofing outputs
  • Create, customise and optimise bespoke press profiles
  • Ensure that the proofing devices are running to the best they can and minimising waste
  • Maintain and replenish the proofing equipments consumables
  • Generate bespoke retouching conversion profiles for the production specialists on request
  • Input and maintain the printer specification database within our MIS system
  • Input and maintain our global brand colour database

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with the teams to understand project colour requirements, ensuring high quality outputs that meet brand and regulatory standards
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings through regular catch up forums
  • Support Aire Global Management and your team with any business developments
  • Establish and escalate timings needed for projects with relevant Managers
  • Build collaborative working relationships with other departments and cross functional teams within the business to ensure smooth transition from Design to Production colour management processes
  • Manage own time effectively ensuring that agreed deadlines and delivery of work is achieved
  • Provide regular project detail / updates, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed and that clear lines of communication with CD team / Production Managers are maintained throughout

4. Innovation and Technology

  • Proactively seek out key / relevant innovations within the industry and share these findings amongst the team to further strengthen our culture for development and improvement
  • Embrace and drive colour management technology within the business
  • Support and champion the implementation of technology to improve efficiency and quality, allowing departments and the overall business to grow further
  • Regularly review and identify areas requiring improvement, and, if necessary, challenge the business to work smarter by escalating your recommendations
  • Actively work closely with the production team to identify and help support with innovations in colour management

Skills
Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator and Photoshop
Demonstrate a keen eye for detail
High levels of organisation
Proficient in file, folder and digital asset management
Prioritisation of high volumes of work to achieve all tasks on time, on brief and on brand

Experience
3+ years industry experience within artwork and packaging creation
Comprehensive guideline / toolkit / knowledge bank creation – strong brand guardianship
Able to follow process and procedure to a high level
Working within a team to drive forward efficiencies in a collaborative manner
Previous experience of working closely with Client Services within an agency environment

Knowledge
An understanding of database systems and technology
Knowledge of print processes and colour management
IT Literate
A good understanding of brand and corporate guidelines and how to follow them

Qualifications
Desirable if educated to degree level or equivalent comparable Graphic Design qualification.
